Job Description
Missions
Reporting to the manager of the Cross Platform Team and based in the operational headquarters you'll be a member of the Cross Platform Team working with both internal and external customers throughout the world.
Top Functions of the Position
• Managing database-related release management activities for staging and production systems
• Proactively diagnose/assess the database environment before problems arise
• Ensure the integrity and security of data from unauthorized individuals
Additional Responsibilities
• Collecting, organizing and managing data
• Oversight and control of data resources for the organization
• Deploying and maintaining resilient data replication schemes
Objectives -- Year One
• Be able to operate in our client's environments with little to no assistance, understanding their duties
• Working with our customers (web developers and computer programmers) on a daily basis
• Ongoing maintenance & administration of assigned systems
• Assistance with execution of projects related to areas of responsibility
• Identifying the needs of clients and meeting these needs through proper data research
• Developing, configuring and maintaining databases and related systems. This includes writing well-formed, efficient SQL queries, views, jobs,
and stored procedures to collect, process relevant data
• Developing test sets for monitoring database functionality through 24x7 monitoring systems
• Optimizing database performance through database performance tuning
• Configuring and validating database backup routines on a regular basis
• Assist with recovery of lost or corrupt data
• Following direction provided by the customer, but remaining mindful and aware of the overall environment and the long-term plan for that environment
Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
• 3 - 6 years of MS SQL Server DBA experience or related formal database education or DBA certification
• Strong understanding of database platforms in an enterprise infrastructure with the ability to utilize database administration tools
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve database related issues in a timely manner
• Ability to follow change management and/or ITIL processes
• Ability to work from a ticketing system and provide updates to clients and team
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
The strongest candidates will have:
• Multiple Industry Certifications - MCITP and MCSE are most valuable; MCDBA, VPC, etc are also of interest
• Ability to meet stringent deadlines and handle multiple tasks
• Familiar with Change Management and ITIL processes
• Ability to provide timely and informative follow-up to end-users
• Ability to efficiently prioritize and organize competing work demands with little oversight
Education
B.S/B.A. Degree (In Relevant Field Preferred)
