Job Description

DCI Group is currently seeking to fill the position of Account Executive in our Client Services division with a strong focus on media affairs.

 

General responsibilities include: day-to-day interaction with media; providing strategic counsel to clients and internal client teams; drafting and editing message documents including op-eds and taking points; creating and implementing media strategy on behalf of clients and client teams. 

 

The Account Executive will be required to:

 

  • Understand complex policy issues,      specifically in the telecom space
  • Pitch news stories to      various media outlets including TV, print and radio
  • Establish and develop      relationships with members of the media
  • Manage and administer the      activities of assigned accounts or industry segments in accordance with      DCI policies and client objectives
  • Manage complex issue      campaigns, including, creation and executive of strategic media affairs      plans
  • Work well under deadline      in a fast paced environment

Qualifications

The successful candidate must be self-motivated, creative, energetic, and highly organized with great interpersonal skills.  Furthermore, the candidate must be able to demonstrate solid written and verbal communication skills and have experience developing communications plans, press materials, pitches, op-eds and blog postings.  Telecom industry knowledge and strong media contacts is preferred.  Finally, it is essential that the individual selected for this position be able to quickly establish rapport, credibility, trust, and respect throughout the organization and be viewed as a highly collaborative team player.

 

The ideal candidate would possess the following skills:

  • Have and maintain strong      existing reporter relationships
  • Understanding of the      telecom policy space
  • Ability to work      independently and manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to prepare and      present complex materials or issues before a wide variety of audiences
  • Great interpersonal skills      with the ability to work with a variety of communication styles
  • New media      expertise—including blogger contacts
  • Willingness to travel      domestically (10%)
  • Four to six years of      experience in public relations, media relations or journalism
