Job Description


The Instrument and Electrical (I&E) Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all instruments and electrical equipment in the power plant and the associated facilities. The I&E Technician performs work of high skill in the inspection repair, testing, adjustment, installation and removal of all electronic and electrical power plant equipment and systems.


PRIMARY FUNCTIONS


Complete preventive maintenance tasks by performing routine maintenance duties in a safe and timely manner, including the collection of trending information for the Maintenance Manager.


Complete routine maintenance repairs of instrumentation or electrical nature in a safe and timely manner.


Track spare parts usage and complete a usage report in order to replace items as necessary.


Assist in physical inventories.


Order parts, equipment, and services as necessary following specified purchasing procedures.


Participate in the administrative maintenance of the plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams and preventive/predictive maintenance records.


Set up and operate special maintenance equipment in the performance of maintenance tasks, including instrument calibration equipment and test equipment.


Maintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings for all designated equipment.


Inspect repair, install and remove all types of motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems, and storage batteries, and work with electrical systems, including high voltage equipment.


Conduct trouble shooting and analysis on PLC’s and associated equipment.


Support I&C Technician on the DCS system.


Cooperate and work with other maintenance employees to assist their tasks.


Complete other tasks as requested by the Maintenance Manager.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS


• High school graduate or equivalent required.

• Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment.

• Graduation from an accredited Instrument Technician Program a plus

• Two years’ work experience as a technician in a related industry with accredited instrument training a plus. 

• Four years work experience as a technician with increasing responsibility in a related industry may be substituted for the above requirement. 

• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.  

• Ability to work well with others and be self-directed.

• Ability to apply creative solutions to problems is a plus.  

• Must be able to work from electrical and instrument drawings and ladder logic drawings.  

• Must be skilled in the use of test equipment and power driven tools.  

• Must successfully complete required testing.

• Must have excellent organizational skills.  

• Experience in working with high voltage a plus.  

• Must have good personal computer skills.

• Must possess a valid driver’s license

• Must be able to obtain a TWIC card for facility access.
