Job Description Would you like to join the technical product development department of T-Mobile USA and help unleash our next generation of Un-Carrier? This role works on the Data Products and Intelligence team. We’re a close knit group and work collaboratively for each other’s success. We greatly value raw talent, drive and intellectual horsepower.

The successful candidate will focus on the development and delivery of the backend server for a preloaded Android application. You will need to comfortable wearing multiple hats: part product owner, part architect and part squirrel-herder. You will coordinate efforts and release schedules with the client engineer and other stakeholder teams. You also need to be comfortable with committing to and then hitting your dates – as it turns out, we can’t reschedule Black Friday. We need you to come onboard, ramp-up on the existing platform architecture quickly and hit the ground running. You must be a self-starter and be able to thrive in a fast moving environment with some management direction.  

Qualifications What you bring to the table:

5+ years experience with launching and managing a server application operating at scale

A passion for cutting edge mobile development and the mind to come up with new big ideas

Familiarity with server-side Java development paired to good troubleshooting skills for when things go wrong

Deep knowledge of an agile SDLC – you can assess the impact of a trade-off and make the right decisions

Great communication skills for expressing technical concepts and concerns to non-experts

A high personal standard and exceptional attention to detail

Forward thinking with a bias towards action over think-time

An insatiable desire to learn, develop and grow

What makes you stand out from the pack:

Wireless industry experience at a Tier-1 US carrier

Experience with any of these technologies: Apache Tomcat/SpringBoot, MongoDB, HAProxy, Redis, statsD / collectD, Ruby

A launched mobile application in Google Play, the Apple AppStore or Microsoft Marketplace

Agile development in the AWS cloud environment

Experience managing a multi-million dollar development budget

Responsibilities The cool stuff you’ll be doing:

Own the destiny of an application preloaded on 20+ million smartphones

Direct the efforts of an external developer team, prioritizing features, triaging bugs, assessing the final implementation and coordinating launch milestones

Innovate, cultivate and articulate the user stories for the current and future roadmap

Partner closely with device OEMs, T-Mobile product management and customer care
