eBay Inc is embarking on a large scale strategic project to build a next generation shipping and logistics platform that will serve sellers across eBay, Paypal, and Magento on a global scale. This new platform will support the growth of business across international borders for our sellers and will be built with the vision of making world class supply chain and logistics tools available to the marketplace seller. The project will be constructed on best-of-breed tools, developed with a top-notch team of engineers and product managers, and will be designed with the following in mind: self-service, flexibility, scalability, data driven, and internationalization.

eBay is looking for a talented and motivated individual to contribute to the effort as a Sr. Product Manager.  Working with their peers in Product Development, Quality Engineering and Business Units, this new lead product management position will play a critical role in the day-to-day development and delivery of required functionality of the new platform. The ideal candidate for this position has a strong mix of product management experience, UX design, and experience building logistics and supply chain systems. The candidate will ensure products are delivered on-time, on-budget and with a high-degree of quality.

The successful candidate will have significant experience leading one or more large-scale programs that involve significant operational and technical complexity.  This position will report to the Group Product Manager, Carrier Integration

 

The Senior Product Manager will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with business units  to define requirements, KPIs and product concepts
  • Leading Market and User Experience research efforts
  • Developing product feature requirements with the help UX designers and engineers
  • Developing strategy for integration with carriers and partners
  • Documenting the functional requirements of the platform; creating and maintaining the Product Requirements Document
  • Reviewing designs, test plans and code to ensure high quality in the areas of performance, maintainability, data accuracy and quality
  • Triaging project development issues based on severity, assigning resources to resolve and managing communications
  • Planning and support appropriate release management strategies and operational support transitions
  • Working closely with other Product Managers, Architects and Engineers to both understand and influence the platform architecture and feature roadmap to support business objectives and the global rollout schedule
  • Leading and marshaling cross-functional resources inside of the Platform team and throughout eBay to implement the solution
  • Understanding the business requirements and constraints of internal and external partners to propose how the platform ought to be configured
  • Manage platform requirements, risks, and issues, and identify risk mitigation strategies

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience in integration with small parcel carriers or partners
  • 5+ years’ experience in international logistics systems 
  • 3+ years’ experience in eCommerce systems
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, organizational, and motivational skills with ability to quickly adapt to change
  • Ability to drive work to completion working with multiple groups representing different functions
  • Strong supply chain or operations background with working knowledge of supply chain systems
  • Strategic – ability to make solid judgments and decisions with incomplete information
  • Program and project management skills
  • 10+ years of full life-cycle experience in technology, integration or software development
  • Significant experience providing technical design review, development plan critique, code review, test plan/results reviews
  • BA/BS in Engineering. MS preferred
