Job Description
The Classification Senior Consultant is responsible for classification as required by US Customs and Border Protection for entry of goods into the US on behalf of importers.
Objective is to classify our clients’ products using a working knowledge and demonstrated ability to properly navigate and interpret the Harmonized Tariff Schedule. You must possess the ability to read, understand and apply the general rules of interpretation (GRI’s), section & chapter notes and have a good understanding of Customs' rulings, including Customs' ruling database
Qualifications
Core Responsibilities:
Clear and concise communications both internally and externally – written and verbal
Research of Customs and Other Government Agency regulations
Draft analysis and opinion letters
Manage multiple ongoing projects and project deadlines
Daily tracking of project time of self and team members
Contribute to departmental improvements
Work effectively both independently and as part of a team – collaboration, flexibility, adaptability
Take direction from Management
Follow department and company processes, procedures and policies
Qualifications:
US Customs Brokerage License preferred
Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade or 2 years business experience in related field
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Strong interpersonal skills, good written and verbal communication/presentation skills
Creative Problem Solving
Classification experience or advanced technical knowledge of high tech/electronics/automotive sector
Project Management experience a preferred qualification
Prior team management experience a preferred qualification
