Job Description

- Provide support to LOR’s in receiving and entering all inbound lab order requests.

- Provide guidance to LOR’s on resolving inaccurate or incomplete lab orders.

- Reset benefit accumulators and system indicators for lab order process.

- Make outbound calls to obtain necessary information from providers to complete lab orders.

- Track and resolve patient supplied frame lab orders requests.

- Act as a liaison between provider, member and lab for all lab order processing.

- Act as a liaison between lab, Database Management, and IT for all EDI lab order processing issues.

- Serve as SME on MARCH lab order process and optical industry standards.

- Participate in design and UAT of lab order module enhancements and updates.

- Participate in implementation of new optical labs including testing and configuration of frame kits and lens options in relation to health plan requirements.

-Follows and supports the guidelines set by the department and organization to ensure overall goals are met.

- Maintains minimum department production and quality standards.

- Fosters interpersonal relationships, showing empathy and understanding towards staff, protecting individual self-esteem.  Understands own impact on others; interacts effectively with peers and supervisors.

- Any other assigned duties as delegated by management.  

Qualifications

- High school diploma, general education degree or equivalent

- ABO or NCLE Certification

- Minimum 3 months experience working as a license Optician. Preferably one (1) to two (2) years of call center experience or retail experience working in a vision center or private practice.  Preferably one (1) to two years of EDI Transaction or Healthcare Software System Configuration experience.

- Working knowledge of Lab Order values (Spheres, Cylinders, Axis and Prisms)

-Working knowledge of Lab Order materials (Polycarbonate, Photochromatic, Plastic...etc...)

- Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-9 Coding, medical terminology, and HCFA 1500 claim formats

- Working knowledge CMS (HCFA) and DMHC guidelines

- PC proficient in a windows environment

- Intermediate ability in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, SQL etc)

- Good to excellent communication skills

- Strong organizational and prioritization skills

- Able to represent the company in a positive manner

- Ability to retain composure in stressful situations

- Ability to identify confidentiality and its requirements (i.e., HIPAA)

- Strives to be a team player

- Ability to read with attention to detail
