Position Description:

Directs complex technical activities required for the design, security, installation, integration, as well as on going support of the communications network. This team works on Layer 1 & 2 on Fiber Optic Systems, the layer below the routing switch. TDM is currently being used, but are converting it to Ethernet. Moving to all packet network MPLS and Ethernet.

A stand out candidate will have experience with similar types of projects build, design and architect regional WAN to MPLS transport, utility experience.

Responsibilities:

• Make decisions within a framework of expectations developed to ensure the department is meeting its service and operational level agreements with the business, business partners and internal T&D and Information Technology resources.
• Work within a technical team to identify appropriate technical solutions to meet business requirements
• Coordinate the delivery of technical solutions to overcome business issues
• Assists other technical teams to meet their objectives
• Work in a lab environment to test new technology
• Provide guidance to others on the team during routine and emergency operations
• May assign work assignments to others on the team to assist them with projects they are implementing. 

Required Experience:

• 5+ years network experience
• 1+ years experience as and architect,
• Wide Area Network (WAN) experience.
• Virtual Network Architecture including building/designing ethernet and Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Carrier Ethernet
• Experience building/designing ethernet and MPLS corporate/business networks.required
• Solid layer 3 routing protocol experience combined with EI-GRP and BGP routing protocols
• Physical Network Architecture including fiber/microwave and leased services
• Identify weaknesses in design, security, installation processes and integration with other technologies

Preferred Experience:

• Development of enterprise standards, processes and methodologies
• Development of strategic roadmaps for network construction and management
• Set up technology lab to install and test new packet transport technologies including MPLS and Carrier Ethernet
• Utility industry experience.
