The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, an independent LORT theatre, is one of the nation’s largest classical theatres, serving over 100,000 children and adults annually.  It is New Jersey’s only professional arts institution dedicated exclusively to presenting Shakespeare’s canon and other classics through world class stage productions and high-impact education programs.  Six to seven main stage productions plus an outdoor summer production are presented annually. Job Description

ShakespeareLIVE! is an 11 member non-AEA educational touring company with The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey. Now in it’s 16thseason, we are seeking a non-AEA Tour Manager for this year’s tour of Romeo and Juliet and The Comedy of Errors (performed in rep). The touring season starts February 19th, 2013 and runs through early June.

 

The position reports to the Production Manager, Company Manager, and Director of Education throughout the tour. Duties include transporting show visuals, supervising load in and out of venues, supervison of any local crew, calling all performances, keeping both shows rehearsed and polished as well as generating daily tour reports.

 

Candidate must be a positive ambassador for The Shakespeare Theatre and present a positive role model for student audiences. Strong leadership skills, adaptability, ability to remain calm under pressure, and a positive attitude are a must. Strong organizational skills, a working knowledge of basic sound equipment, penchant for travel, ability to make early morning calls, valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and comfort driving a 12 passenger van with attached 12 ft trailer (training provided) are also required.

 

Personal laptop computer and some touring experience is a plus.
