Job Description

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey seeks an experienced Sound Technician. This full-time, seasonal (now thru December) position operates under the Master Electrician/Sound Engineer. Duties include: enforcing all department guidelines to ensuring a safe and efficient work environment; attending all work calls and show calls; assisting in supervision and training of over-hire, intern, and volunteer crews; operating the sound system for rehearsals, performances, and special events; organization and maintenance of sound equipment and storage areas; creation and maintenance of all show paperwork; and assisting in the lighting department as needed.  

Qualifications

Ideal candidate is a self-motivated, safety conscious, team player with a degree in Sound or Theatrical Production, or equivalent professional experience. Basic proficiency in Vectorworks, Microsoft Office, QLab, and audio editing software (Cubase or ProTools recommended) is expected. Must be proficient with Yamaha digital audio consoles, as well as a variety of analog and digital audio equipment. Experience with lighting equipment, especially ETC consoles is a plus. Must be comfortable working at heights over 25 feet and be able to safely lift 50lbs. The ability to stay focused through long work hours, communicate well, follow directions precisely, and manage multiple projects at one time while keeping a positive attitude are absolute musts. Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record.
