Job Description

The editor in this role presides over all the Star Tribune's features content, digitally and in print.

Top priorities include working strategically with editors and reporters in the department, and across the newsroom, to build our digital audience through every aspect of our features coverage, as well to ensure that features print sections, especially on Sundays, remain vibrant. This includes coverage of lifestyles, pop culture, travel, home and design, books, food, restaurants and entertainment. Leading the Star Tribune's broad coverage of the local arts in a compelling, sophisticated way also is a crucial part of this role.

The AME for Features is a member of the newsroom's management team and also contributes to shaping overall newsroom strategy in areas such as reader engagement and digital innovation.


Qualifications

We are searching for an editor with deep experience managing news content and a large staff of reporters and team leaders. This position requires strong journalism skills – namely, excellent news judgment, the ability to inspire and lead reporters, editors and designers, and demonstrated expertise in developing sophisticated enterprise. Must have high-level communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the newsroom's leadership team and other departments. We value the desire to encourage creative story and presentation ideas, develop new products and engage in the community to discover and tell its stories.
