Job Description

The Star Tribune is looking for a bright, passionate self-starter to join our Digital Product team as a Digital Media Intern.   This role will take the lead on key strategic organizational initiatives while gaining valuable experience in the rapidly-evolving digital media industry.  An ideal candidate has a passion for consumer behavior and analytics as well as a desire to help influence the future direction of the Star Tribune.  

Responsibilities
•    Assist in the development and lead the execution of initiatives to increase acquisition, engagement, and loyalty across Star Tribune’s digital products.
•    Plan, execute and analyze A/B and Multivariate testing initiatives to challenge assumptions and increase performance across the organization.
•    Analyze complex data sets and develop insights to gain a better understanding of the Star Tribune user.
•    Develop recommendations and deliver presentations to leaders within the organization.
•    Assist in other business functions as needed to gain greater insight into the business and customer experience.

Qualifications

•    Currently enrolled in or recently completed a 4-year degree in business, marketing, economics, statistics, or communications.
•    Excellent logic and reasoning skills to generate insights from complex data sets.
•    Experience researching and analyzing performance in a business context.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and data visualization tools, especially Excel.
•    Strong communication and presentation skills.
•    Comfortable working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
•    Familiarity with web analytics tools such as Omniture, Google Analytics, and Chartbeat.
•    Familiarity with digital A/B testing tools (Optimizely, Adobe Test & Target, Site Spect, etc.) a plus.
•    Familiarity with statistical, business intelligence, or predictive analytics software (R, SAS, MicroStrategy, Tableau, Minitab, etc.) a plus.
