Job Description

The Digital Product Manager is responsible for managing a group of products and technologies that further the strategic goals and objectives of the Star Tribune Media Company. The Digital Product Manager is on the forefront of market trends and new innovations, identifies and evaluates key digital product opportunities, and recommends solutions and product priorities. A successful candidate is passionate about all things digital and takes digital initiatives from idea stage to launch, and effectively manage the product road map and life cycle. 

Responsibilities:
•    Collaborate with a variety of partners including News, Marketing, Circulation, Sales, Design, and Engineering to develop innovative products while increasing user engagement and revenue.
•    Be the internal product champion, inspiring others in the organization with product vision.
•    Develop deep product and user expertise through industry research, competitive analysis, focus groups, human-centered design (HCD), testing, and analytics.
•    Identify research and provide recommendations on new products, services, and technologies.
•    Manage the product life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities.
•    Define creative, high quality, product roadmaps based on company strategy and vision and present plans to stakeholder groups and leadership.
•    Communicate research, results, and recommendations to stakeholder groups and leadership.
•    Collaborates with the Analytics team to identify and define key metrics and objectives to grow engagement and traffic.  Demonstrates strong understanding of key metrics and levers that drive performance.  Monitor and analyze the data and provide leadership with recommendations for improvements, pivots, or changes to ensure business objectives are met.
•    Proactively drive and help develop our user-centered strategy and approach to product development by incorporating Human Centered Design, user testing, focus groups, surveys and other methods. Seek out new tools, techniques and processes for bringing the user experience and needs into product development.
•    Entrench yourself in assigned product area becoming the Subject Matter Owner and Expert. Develop and present strategic analyses, white papers and recommend business strategy to leadership. Communicate and train other team members on best practices and learnings from expertise.
•    Partner with project managers to develop project plans, including goals, business requirements, roles and responsibilities, milestones and communications.
•    Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and develop contingency plans.
•    Leads by example, demonstrating company values of inclusiveness, transparency, and collaboration.
•    Maintain a deep understanding of how digital products and services work.  Mentor and train less experienced staff on products and services in your area of expertise providing direction, leadership and coaching.

Qualifications

•    Five plus years related experience
•    Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business or related field preferred, MBA a plus
•    Proficient in digital media and technology
•    Comfortable working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
•    Excellent communication skills both written and oral
•    Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
