Job Description

This position is responsible for repairing mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and making precision adjustments to all production equipment. Uses gas, arc, TIG and MIG welding equipment, troubleshoots hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Installs new equipment and makes modifications. Perform mechanical disassembly and reassembly of intricate machines in production departments. Conduct preventative maintenance on all production equipment and support the press production of the newspaper by maintaining commercial press equipment. Press production is a 7 day a week 365 days per year operation. Hourly rate is $30.00 (union position). 40 hour work week, 3rd shift, includes weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Two year degree from trade school machinist program and /or five years’ experience as a maintenance machinist in a commercial/newspaper printing environment.

• Prefer 2-year machinist and welding certificate.

• Printing related work experience strongly preferred. • Or equivalent machinist experience, preferably in a large volume manufacturing environment.

• Demonstrated experience working in a deadline and high volume-driven environment requiring problem solving and multi-tasking skills.
