Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Handbook Content Editor is responsible for creating and editing the text content for the SSMU Student
Handbook.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Create and edit all text content for the SSMU Student Handbook, with the exception of advertising content;
2. Ensure that the text content of the SSMU Student Handbook is factually correct, interesting, and helpful to McGill’s diverse set of students;
3. Report status updates to the SSMU Communications Manager on a weekly basis;
4. Work with the Handbook Layout Editor to submit a complete table of contents to the Communications Manager, for approval by the Executive Committee;
5. Submit an edited copy of the SSMU Handbook to the Communications Manager, for approval by the Executive Committee;
6. Submit a final version of the SSMU Student Handbook to the Communications Manager for publication.
 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:
To undertake other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Communications Manager.
 

SUPERVISION REQUIRED:
The Handbook Content Editor receives direction from the Communications Manager.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

1. Strong editing and research skills.
2. Experience with publications.
3. High degree of autonomy and initiative.
4. Highly organized.
5. Ability to work in a team.


CONFIDENTIALITY:
It is understood and agreed that all matters regarding the SSMU and those clubs, associations, or groups forming part of the SSMU are to be kept in the strictest of confidence, and nothing regarding the operations, policies, and general activities of the SSMU or its constituent groups shall be divulged to any third party without the express consent of the General Manager and/or the Executive Committee of the
SSMU.

  • Paid position: $13.30 per hour
  • Hours: On average 6-10 hrs per week
  • Contract: March 1st 2020 until May 31st 2020
