Job Description

The primary responsibilities of the Front Desk Staff – Lunch Hour is to welcome the public and guests of the Students’ Society, respond to general inquiries about the organization and McGill at large, and to act as a positive representation of the Students’ Society.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Answer questions from students, staff and the public about the Students’ Society of McGill University and respond to e-mails with similar inquiries;
  2. Answer the phone, direct callers to the appropriate source if answer is not known;
  3. Courier related duties;
  4. Complete Porters’ log and daily door signs;
  5. Complete various projects assigned by the HR Manager as well as requests from the SSMU Executives from time-to-time; 
  6. Daily projects such as filling copiers and printers with paper;
  7. Update information available from the Front Desk for the public. Expected to maintain a high level of knowledge about the Students’ Society and its subsequent organizations, McGill University, etc;
  8. Assist HR Manager, Executives and staff members as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of SSMU and McGill University;
  • Customer service skills;
  • Highly organized and strong attention to detail;
  • Strong communication skills both in English and French required;
  • Understanding of Microsoft office suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Additional Information

  • Paid position: $13.10 per hour
  • Hours: availability of approximately five to ten (5-10) hours per week, the time can be flexible between 11 am and 2 pm, Monday to Friday, in order to facilitate scheduling.
  • Contract: August 1st, 2021 through May 31st, 2022
