Job Description

Reporting to the General Manager, the responsibilities of the on-call Front Desk Receptionist is to receive the public and the guests of the executives and staff members, respond to general inquiries about the organization and McGill at large, and to act as a positive representation of the Students’ Society:

  • Answer questions from students, staff and the public about the Students’ Society of McGill University and respond to e-mails with similar inquiries;
  • Answer the phone, directing callers to the appropriate source if answer is not known;
  • Complete courier related duties;
  • Complete various projects assigned by the General Manager as well as requests from the SSMU Executives from time-to-time; 
  • Daily projects such as filling copiers and printers with paper;
  • Update information available from the Front Desk for the public. Expected to maintain a high level of knowledge about the Students’ Society and its subsequent organizations, McGill University, etc;
  • Assist the General Manager and Executives in administrative duties as assigned;
  • Other tasks related to the position.

Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of SSMU and McGill University.
  • Integrity, good planning skills, high degree of organization skills.
  • Good communication skills both in English and French desirable.
  • Candidates are required to have a minimum of 15 hours of availability in a work week: Monday to Friday from 9 AM until 5 PM.

  • Paid position: $12.07 per hour
  • Hours: On Call
  • Contract: Nov 14th, 2016 until May 31st, 2017
