Job Description

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager and working with relevant Executives, the Human Resources Coordinator will coordinate human resources processes pertaining to the student staff members.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate the staffing process: revise and review job descriptions with the relevant Executive;
  2. Coordinate the recruitment process: Post jobs online, review candidates, consult staff on the interview process. Prepare and update interview guides. Schedule and conduct interviews. 
  3. Coordinate staff onboarding: Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed, and coordinate with the hiring team for orientation. 
  4. Support the Health and Safety program and Social Committee by attending Health and Safety/Social Committee meetings and coordinating action items, if required.
  5. Orient student staff on an ongoing basis and answer questions. Consult relevant Executives and the Human Resources Manager, as required.
  6. Communicate SSMU policies to student staff (ex: Employee Manual for casual staff members, Conflict of interest policy, SSMU Constitution and By-Laws).
  7. Participate in HR improvement projects.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate student enrolled in Management and/or in Organizational Behaviour, in Industrial Relations or any other programs related;
  • Knowledge of Quebec Standard Labour laws;
  • Experience in handling confidential information;
  • Sound judgment and impartiality;
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written in English, and French is an asset;
  • Proven organization skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Initiative;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.

Additional Information

  • Paid position: $15.10/hour
  • Hours: 10-15 hours per week;
  • Contract: April 1st, 2020 – August 30th, 2020;
