Job Description

The MiniCourses Manager is responsible for supervising the MiniCourses operations. While planning, organizing, and staffing the operations, the MiniCourses Manager will be supervising the execution of the tasks assigned to the MiniCourses Customer Service and Marketing Coordinator and the MiniCourses Registration and Website Coordinator.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

During both the Fall and Winter terms:

1) Manage the budget and overall profitability of MiniCourses, periodically provide an updated, detailed profit (loss) projection to the Vice-President (Operations), and supply the SSMU Vice-President (Operations) with the MiniCourses budget during budget revisions.

2) Organize and perform the necessary logistics for all MiniCourses.

3) Determine the schedule for all MiniCourses and book the necessary rooms and equipment.

4) Recruit and hire MiniCourses Instructors, Assistant Teachers, and Models.

5) Process refunds, credit notes, course transfers, and discounts for MiniCourses.

6) Provide direction and assign tasks to the MiniCourses Customer Service and Marketing Coordinator and the MiniCourses Registration and Website Coordinator, as needed.

7) Submit contracts, personal information forms, tax forms, and bank forms for all Instructors to the SSMU Accounting Department in a timely fashion.

8) Periodically prepare the instructor payroll, for submission to the SSMU Accounting Department.

9) Run evaluations for all MiniCourses, including creating and distributing course evaluation forms to all customers and compiling the information received from these forms. 


WORKING CONDITIONS:

1) High pressure work environment - the MiniCourses Manager receives 60-100 emails per week during peak periods, many of which are time-sensitive inquires or complaints.

2) Recurring exposure to complaints and requests – customers and instructors often have high expectations of the MiniCourses Manager, expecting immediate responses to inquiries and requests.


Qualifications

1) Experience in management.

2) Basic accounting knowledge.

3) Strong customer service skills required to respond to complaints and high pressure work environment.

4) Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

5) Reliability, integrity, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, organizational skills.

6) Ability to work autonomously and self-motivated.

7) Good communication skills in English required, French an asset.

8) Experience negotiating or preparing contracts an asset.

9) Availability during the summer.

Additional Information

  • Paid position: $15.64 per hour
  • Hours: On average 10-15 hours per week
  • Contract: Starts immediately through May 31st, 2017
