Sports Information Director

Taylor University is a four-year liberal arts college holding to a strong evangelical Christian position. Upland is on Indiana Highway 22, five miles east of I-69, fifty miles south of Fort Wayne and seventy miles north of Indianapolis.
Taylor University is seeking applications of candidates for the position of Sports Information Director. This is a full-time, 12 months, exempt position located in Upland, Indiana. Evaluation of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
The Sports Information Director will lead the department in all areas of operation of the Sports Information Office which will include: serving as a liaison between the athletic department and all aspects of the media, serve as the primary media contact for all 16 intercollegiate sports and duties as assigned; oversee two full-time assistants that have shared coaching duties; writing, designing, and editing publications; managing website content on SIDEARM Sports platform; event and statistic management; live video streaming oversight; managing the largest social media network in the NAIA (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube); performing basic graphic design functions; producing revenue through the sale of web and print advertising; overall promotion of the Taylor University sports programs and special events. Some travel will be required.
Knowledge of and committed to Taylor University missions statement and philosophy, the NAIA, and conference rules and regulations, Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Sports Management or related field with at least two years of experience in the field of sports information or journalism is required, or equivalent. Preferred qualifications: Master’s Degree and experience in leading a sports information department and sports broadcasting or public relations experience. Candidates interested in this position must possess strong written and oral communication skills including demonstrated publication experience using Adobe Creative Suite software and be proficient with Microsoft Office, statistical software such as StatCrew and DakStats, web design, web streaming and social media experience. Successful candidate must be willing and able to work in a fast paced environment that includes nights and weekends. The Sports Information Director reports directly to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and supervises two or more assistants.
