Job Description

Taylor University is seeking applications for a position of Residence Hall Director.  This is a full-time, ten-month, contract faculty position.  Applicants should be available to begin work on July 29, 2013.

 

Design and implement a residence hall program which addresses the specific developmental needs of college students. Counsel residents in areas of personal adjustment; intervenes in crisis situations and maintains current files of counseling, discipline and informal advising sessions. Coordinate all administrative operations of the residence hall program, which would include budget and facility management, supervision of student staff, communicating and implementing emergency procedures and facilitating the housing process.  Provide an educational emphasis in the residence hall by coordinating a program of seminars, spiritual and social activities that serve to develop the whole person.  Participate in the university system of discipline.  As a member of the faculty with rank and status, contributes to faculty governance, committees and other appropriate functions.  Assist the total student development staff in policy formation relative to student life.

Qualifications

A master’s degree in counseling, student development or a helping profession is required (and qualifies an applicant for faculty status within the university.)  Strong interest in discipleship and personal experience working with college students is expected.  Ability to communicate clearly, manage details and multiple tasks, coordinate activities and work effectively with students, faculty, staff and administrators is critical.  Candidates must demonstrate a deep personal commitment to Jesus Christ and must be strongly committed to the educational mission and evangelical orientation of

the university.
