Reporting to: Creative Director

Scope: Develop a Fashion Collection for 8 Cataloges per year across Apparel, Hand Bags, Footware and Accessories inline with the Global Merchandise plan

Subordinatates:    Designers, Graphic Designers and Product Developers

Main Summary:

  • To create and drive brand collection and merchandise plans that maximise catalogue and ecommerce sales, catered to regional market demographics, fashion trends, newness, and fast and acurate responce to our members needs.
  • Ensure product development complies with the companies global merchandise plan, catalogue planning and manufacuturing requirement.
  • Deliver 8 Collections per year that meet trend, market and GP expectations and exceed revenue expectations. Drive sales into regional buyers through maximisation of the merchandising plan.
  • Train and to get qualified people in order to support company’s expansion.
  • Design Savvy, Commercial, GP & Sales Growth Driven, and Customer aware.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the market to detect trends, fabrications and designs
  • Collaborate with the Creative Director to define the Brand style definition by deploying relevant trends, thematic needs for the catalogue collections in order to anticipate and maintain market expectations.
  • Attend international fashion fairs, internal trend and fabric development department, use various media at your disposal to follow new fashion streams.  Prepare market and retail reports and translate multiple avenues of information into clearly defined market accurate trends that drive sales of 8 catalogue collections per year
  • Constantly keep yourself updated and always think ahead. You will hunt, browse and choose relevant trends in order to translate them into a marketing strategy than matches the Brand’s DNA
  • Always be in touch with the global and regional markets and affiliates, be aware of competitor’s strategies, product initiatives and pricing.  Quickly and accurately deploy findings to maintain a competitive advantage relevant to the Brand and the organisations strategy
  • Empower your team of designers, graphic designers and product developers.  You will make sure each collection has consistancy, on trend and price commercial fabrics, trimmings and accessories. You will be a part of the development process from sketching, pattern making, sample making, fit, style review, costing and selection
  • Coordinate day-to-day product development activities with subordinates to ensure the catelogue critical path, key mile stones and merchandising plan are maintained from trend to collection buying while analysing current catalogue selling trends
  • You are accountable for the presentation of your collection and catalogue layout to internal buyers, visual merchandiser teams and sales marketing departments
  • Prepare and communicate all useful media to support buyers and sales; markets studies, mood boards, colour ranges, markets studies and final look books.
  • Participate with Brand, Creative and Merchandise peers to establish and agree on a proper development calendar, appropriate processes and procedures of product development.  Maintain a collabrative and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Proactively prepare professional products presentations, market trend reports, competitors’ analysis reports as necessary
  • Analyse and define fabric needs, work closely and collectively with the fabric development and production teams to find possible synergies and harmonization
  • Understandstand strategic product development needs and develop materials and price strategies accordingly
  • Meet Brand, Creative and Merchandise peers on a very regular basis to exchange information and coordinate all actions and research
  • Analyse possible co-operation with industry’s best in class
  • Attend brand, design and merchandising meetings whenever necessary
  • Train and develop your team
  • Continually monitor and manage the team overhead and investigate solutions for the cost reductions and improved performance to support the business growth
  • Perform duties as required by the company and according to company policy, to support the growth and prosperity of the business, and according to the company needs

Qualifications

  • Over 10 years of strong experience in Apparel/Fashion, Design and Product Development
  • Proven successful management/leadership skills in either buying or brand management
  • 5 years managing a branded collection
  • Strong negotiation and organization skills
  • Good analytical sense and reporting skills
  • Excellent communicator, both in written and oral English
  • Results oriented, problem solver, and decision maker
  • Experience in an international brand environment, preferably European
  • Creative thinking and capacity to develop innovative concepts
  • Degree in Fashion Design or Fashion Marketing from reputable institute
  • Photoshop and illustrator knowledge are required for this Job
  • Knowledge in pattern making / fashion sketching would be a plus
