Summary description:
This position is responsible for targeting each marketplace and all aspects of field based customer service including: relationship development, problem solving, communication, territory management, and training and product demonstrations.
Main responsibilities:
- Develop new sales leads and service existing customers.
- Manage discount levels and strive to improve company margins.
- Establish sales forecasts and secure sales orders according to goals.
- Assist to control expenses within budget.
- Educate customers on products, service, warranties, and technical support.
- Ensure that customers have access to parts personnel, field service and other team members as necessary.
- Demonstrate and teach proper techniques of prospecting, telemarketing and quotation and specification writing.
- Communicate and train dealers and customers on the features and benefits of equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or appropriate combination of education and experience.
- 5 – 10 years of experience including at least 2 years selling port solutions or material handling equipment.
- Interacts internally and with related groups on matters that typically require explanation and clarification.
- Strong Organizational and Time Management skills.
- Experience in commercial or industrial outside sales.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong business relationships.
- Basic understanding of equipment purchase financing.
- Professional level knowledge of principles and practices involved in new business development, product marketing and sales.
- Requires ability to initiate sales contacts and complete sales contracts.
- Excellent human relations skills to prepare and deliver formal presentations to customers.
- Excellent problem solving skills to develop sales strategies.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating activities with a variety of teams.
- Time and territory management practices must be exceptional.
- Must be able to travel 50% of time.
