Our client California Psychiatric Transitions is a well established private Mental Health Rehabilitation Center(MHRC) providing care for the mentally ill, mentally ill/developmentally disabled. The facility is a 98-bed facility with 4 components; 12-bed Disruptive Behavioral Unit; 32-bed Forensic/Diversion, Incompetent to Stand Trial Unit; 22 Bed Re-entry Unit; 32-Bed Main Unit. The facility is a locked down facility treating residents from various counties and regional centers.

Job Description

Seeking a Director of Nursing(DON) for a Mental Rehabilitation Center(MHRC) to perform administrative authority, responsibility and accountability for the nursing services within the MHRC. The DON shall interview all prospective licensed nursing staff, check their references, and make hiring decisions as well as review job performances and write annual performance reviews. Laboratory reports shall be reviewed promptly upon being received and highly abnormal reports will be brought to the attention of the medical director; update, amend or write nursing policy and procedure; attend management and other facility meetings when pertaining to the nursing department; review the clinical care of clients in the facility and attend staffing sessions when possible; the DON shall ensure all seclusion and restraint documentation; due to the unpredictable nature of the psychiatric profession employees are to engage in crisis prevention procedures for the safety, health and welfare of the residents and staff. In addition to the specific job duties, due to the nature of the psychiatric field, at times, you will be expected to stand for long periods of time, bend, kneel, lift, carry and walk swiftly away or run.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's of Nursing i.e., registered nurse
  • 1 year experience in supervision in the last 5 years
  • 3 to 5 years of psychiatric nursing
