Overview

Seeking aggressive, self-starting interns worldwide who eat, sleep and breathe all things Social Media, entertainment, celebrity, pop culture, futuristic architecture, global education, politics, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, global environment, green energy, poverty and social causes, and international relations; who can dive right in and participate in the process of developing and creating dynamic content for a new global online publication.  Will receive highly practical experience in story conceptualization, critical reading and analysis, editorial writing, internet research, fact checking, and collaborative work in a virtual organization publication environment.   You are highly encouraged to generate your own ideas and contribute to the overall concept.   

As an associate editor intern, you will oversee contributing writers, assign topics and post stories to our online platform; as well as have direct access to the leadership of VOMI Global Think Tank and Advisory Board.  As a writer, duties include, but are not limited to, writing daily posts on current events, writing opinions, and promoting published work on various VOMI social networks.  You will have a chance to interview experts, authors, celebrities, entrepreneurs, public officials, political analysts, foreign officials and dignitaries, and ordinary people from all walks of life.   May also be involved, under strict supervision, in planning and/or attending Board meetings;  learning and using parliamentary procedures based on Robert's Rules of Order; recording and transcribing minutes of board meeting; and helping draft Board resolutions.   

This is a 30-Day UNPAID Global-Virtual Internship,  with a possibility of being extended for up to a maximum period of 90 days based on your initial performance during the first 30 days.  Our internship program is Year-Round and is open to all applicants worldwide who meet our strict requirements.   All selected interns who have successfully completed the maximum total of 90 days of internship will receive a $500 stipend for tuition and education expenses subject to meeting all other stipend award requirements.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements: 

You must be a graduate student, or undergraduate in your 3rd or final year, majoring in Journalism or a related discipline.  Must have a min 3.00 GPA in your major or equivalent; a 3.5+ GPA is preferred.  We also require a minimum of 2 brief writing samples Experience managing blogs and websites helpful, but not required. Experience with Wordpress is a big plus Admission is limited only to students who will receive course credit for the internship, however, a waiver of this requirement due to extenuating circumstances may be considered on a case-by-case basis.   As well, we require the following:

•    Excellent written and oral communication, research, and writing skills 
•    Experience with social, digital and online communication platforms
•    Willingness to work under close supervision and within the constraints of tight deadlines in a 100% virtual organization environment 
•    Fluency in English required, additional language proficiencies (French, Chinese, etc.) are a plus 
•    Excellent multitasking and time management skills
•    Highly disciplined, focused, and extraordinary ability to adapt and thrive in a virtual organization
•    Must be totally self-sufficient in a 100% virtual environment
•    Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications
•    STRONG references
