Overview

Seeking dedicated interns with a passion for public health issues around the world, making the world a better place, Virtual Organizations and Social Media; who have a strong vision to participate, as part of a team and under strict supervision, in community organization, program planning, and public health training in support of local communities worldwide; and who can bring creative ideas to the public health team and help implement them.  Will support the Public Health Advisor of one of 7 (Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, Middle East, North America, South America) local region affairs subcommittees (e.g., African Affairs Subcommittee, etc.) of the  Global Ambassadors Committee of VOMI Global Think Tank and Advisory Board.  May also have an opportunity to participate as speaker at global web-media-conferences based on overall background and qualifications.   May also be involved, under strict supervision and depending on the length of the intersnship, in planning and/or attending Board meetings;  learning and using parliamentary procedures based on Robert's Rules of Order; recording and transcribing minutes of board meetings; and assisting in drafting board resolutions.   

This is a 30-Day UNPAID Global-Virtual Internship,  with a possibility of being extended for up to a maximum period of 90 days based on your initial performance during the first 30 days.  Our internship program is Year-Round and is open to all applicants worldwide who meet our strict requirements.   All selected interns who have successfully completed the maximum total of 90 days of internship will receive a $500 stipend for tuition and education expenses subject to meeting all other stipend award requirements.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements: 

You must be an undergraduate in your 3rd or final year, or a graduate student majoring in Public Health or a related discipline.  Must have a min 3.00 GPA in your major or equivalent; a 3.5 GPA is preferred.  Must have a professionally focused understanding of public health issues in various parts of the world,  including the science, psychology, and sociology associated with public issues; and a passion for Virtual Organizations and Social Media Extensive experience with community-based organizations and a determination to work effectively with local civil society organizations are another big plus.  Ability to work effectively and in harmony with colleagues from diverse cultures and professional backgrounds under stressful conditions is a must.    Admission is limited only to students who will receive course credit for the internship, however, a waiver of this requirement due to extenuating circumstances may be considered on a case-by-case basis.   As well, we require the following:

•    A Social Media Native, you live and breathe all things social media. 
•    Willingness and ability to operate and manage, under strict supervision, in a 100% virtual organization environment.
•    Excellent written and oral communication, research, and writing skills. 
•    Highly disciplined, focused, and extraordinary ability to adapt and thrive in a virtual organization.
•    Must be totally self-sufficient in a 100% virtual environment.
•    Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications.
•    Fluency in English required, additional language proficiencies (French, Chinese, etc.) are a plus.
