We’re reinventing recruiting

We’re on a mission to disrupt an entire industry

Get a Demo

Our simple goal is to make hiring easy. To help businesses get the talent they need to succeed. And to help people find a job they love.

Everyone is incredibly frustrated by how hard it is to find amazing talent. We share that frustration.

Recruiting is a fragmented, opaque process undermined by outdated technology that turns off candidates and hiring managers.

Now, imagine a world where it’s easy to find great candidates, it’s easy for people to show interest in jobs, it’s easy for hiring teams to collaborate, and your recruiting vendors are just a click away.

We imagined it. And then we delivered it.

He is passionate about Customer Success and a firm believer that the current SaaS subscription model truly aligns the interests of customers with those of the solution provider.

What was your first job?

My first childhood job was delivering a local newspaper, a common job back then which is now totally foreign to my children. Payment for the paper was voluntary, so I quickly learned how good service could translate into more money in my pocket. My first professional role post college graduation was delivering outsourced accounting services to entrepreneurs here in Silicon Valley. I soon realized I was more interested in the accounting software than actually doing the accounting, and I’ve been working for enterprise software companies ever since.

What makes a great hire?

I look for a lot of different qualities in a prospective hires, but three important ones for me are passion, drive and curiosity. I’m looking for people who are passionate about what they have done and genuinely interested in our company and the role for which they are applying. I often joke that if I could teach “drive”, I’d be retired by now. Drive is sometimes difficult to assess during an interview, but is an obvious critical success factor in any field. Curiosity is a very important trait in sales in my opinion, which may surprise some people. I learn as much about a candidate through the questions they ask (or don’t ask) as I do from their responses to my questions.

Why SmartRecruiters?

As a sales leader, I’ve all along believed that recruiting was my number one priority. Without a great team you have a very low probability of achieving great things. So I fundamentally believe in the importance of our value proposition. I chose to join SmartRecruiters because of our people, culture, the quality of our solution and our CEO’s vision for the future of recruiting.

What’s your favorite feature?

As a sales professional I'm always thinking “pipeline". The ability to view our pipeline of candidates for any of the current and future open roles within my organization, and to be able to do so via my mobile phone, is game changing. I began using our solution my first day on the job. Recruiting is a team sport and frankly I’m not sure how I managed without a solution like SmartRecruiters.

Sarah Wilson Head of People

About Sarah:

Sarah is responsible for our people strategy. Sarah has been leading talent acquisition and people functions for organizations both in Canada and internationally for the past ten years and has a track record of delivering unconventional, business-first programs that drive performance, engagement, and innovation.

What was your first job?

My very first job was on the retail sales floor. After graduating from university, my first job was in a recruiting agency.

What makes a great hire?

Someone who believes wholeheartedly in the company's mission and who provides a unique perspective or skillset to complement the broader team.

Why SmartRecruiters?

My love affair with this company started when I was a customer. The product is incredible but more importantly to me, the vision of the company is something I believe in. We are creating a movement that will change this industry forever - and we are all committed to making it happen.

What’s your favorite feature?

Custom Scorecards - being able to define assessment criteria and then see how each member of the hiring team evaluates and thinks about that criteria gives my team and I amazing insight into our people and how they evaluate talent.

Rebecca holds her degree from the University of California – Berkeley.

What was your first job?

I was a lifeguard. Nothing beats hanging out by the pool on a hot New England day!

What makes a great hire?

The best hires aren’t necessarily the ones with the perfect resume. The best hires are the ones who bring confidence and competition to the table every day. If you’re motivated to learn, and you know how to push yourself, you’re more valuable than the guy who’s done the job longer but has lost all passion for what he does.

Why SmartRecruiters?

Recruiting software and hiring team collaboration needs a facelift - SmartRecruiters has the product and the team DNA to make that change happen!

What’s your favorite feature?

The mobile app! As a recruiter, there’s nothing worse than being stuck in traffic, getting a call from an executive whom you need to make an offer to in the next 30 minutes, and having no way of getting a candidate’s phone number easily… one-click calling, mobile reviews, and easy access to exactly what you’ll need to move quickly is invaluable to the fast paced recruiter.

SmartRecruiters is here to eradicate unemployment. As the part of the engineering team I have a unique opportunity to build and own a part of the system that will get us closer to this goal.

He has international and intercultural experience gained from working and living in Norway, Sweden and UK, managing mixed nationality teams across EMEA.

If you add someone to your team where you think after a week that this person works with you already for years.

Why SmartRecruiters?

Great team, great vision, great product - fantastic perspectives.

Mobile app and marketplace. I've been a hiring manager for the last 15 years and sold ATS in this time. For the first time I use the ATS that I sell ;-)

Robert Symons Northern European Sales

About Robert:

An HCM cloud software evangelist. Passionate about helping companies transform the way they engage, hire and retain top talent. 22 years’ experience within the recruiting marketplace. Previously spent 9 years scaling an HCM software business from 11 employees to over 700 employees as part of their senior leadership team. In 2016, joined SmartRecruiters as the first sales and marketing hire in Europe with responsibility for UK/Northern Europe.

What was your first job?

A Marketing Assistant for a cable TV start-up which is now part of Virgin Media. The company was a joint venture between Comcast and Singapore telecom and I spent my days conducting roadshows to introduce cable TV and telephony services to the general public and the explain the power of the new 'fibre optic' networks.

What makes a great hire?

It has to be defined by the positive impact they make to the business. That could be through their engagement and energy they bring to the team to help achieve our mission, their creative capabilities to outpace the competition and lead the market and a laser focus on helping our customers succeed.

Why SmartRecruiters?

I have worked for several HCM providers start-up, hyper growth and global giants. I know the ingredients it takes to build a successful business in this space. I can see a huge opportunity which has been created by the legacy providers falling behind the market needs, the rise in the use of technology both in recruiting and as a consumer and constant challenges organisations face when hiring talent to meet their business objectives. I deliberately came back to recruitment technology as the market was ripe for disruption. At SmartRecruiters we have the perfect combination of experienced leadership, a modern platform with mature marketplace and a strategy focused on our customers ‘Hiring Success’.

What’s your favorite feature?

My favourite aspect of SmartRecruiters is the SmartAssistant based on our own proprietary AI. Being an ex-recruiter, I see immense value on the job fit scoring and stack ranking and ability to focus recruiters attention on engaging with the right candidates instead on 'eye balling' CVs. I also love the fact it helps remove bias in the process. Productivity and diversity are two huge themes running across Talent Acquisition right now and this one feature addresses both.

Eric Gellé Southern and Western European Sales

About Eric:

Eric is responsible for revenue and growth for Southern and Western Europe at SmartRecruiters — including Sales, Service, Support and Customer Success. Prior to joining SmartRecruiters, Eric led sales teams at software vendors such as Oracle, Lumesse, and Avature, focusing on annual recurring revenue growth and customer satisfaction. He is passionate about how HR technology and innovation can help companies achieve their goals.

What was your first job?

My first student job was as a summer season farm hand. It was really tough work and very different from my subsequent career, but I enjoyed the challenge. My first professional role post-MBA was in a consulting firm where I learned how to rapidly understand key business requirements and company goals. After that, I joined the IT and technology space and continue to find it fascinating to be in heart of digital transformation.

What makes a great hire?

I evaluate more on behavior than skills because you can more easily teach skills than change a mindset. A great hire is curios, always in the learning curve, passionate about the role, and seeks to make a positive impact on the company.

Why SmartRecruiters?

Being part of the growth, development and success of a startup is both challenging and rewarding. I joined SmartRecruiters because I am deeply convinced that we have the right people, the right product, and the right market for the future of recruiting solutions.

What’s your favorite feature?

We all use hundreds of applications, software, and tools so, from my perspective, simplicity is king!

SmartRecruiters is the counter to the legacy ATS — in that it’s easy to use, easy to configure, easy to implement, and, for candidates, easy to apply. What else do you need?
